Toll-free passage on the Aosta Est-Aosta Ovest Saint-Pierre motorway section is now in force, following the agreement signed by the Aosta Valley Autonomous Region and the motorway companies S.A.V. S.p.A (Società Autostrade Valdostane) and R.A.V. S.p.A. (Raccordo Autostradale Valle d’Aosta).

The procedure, duly authorised by the Grantor, will operate on a trial basis and is aimed at streamlining vehicle transit in the municipalities of the Plaine area, particularly in Aosta, with the objective of promoting greater traffic flow and safety and guaranteeing minimal environmental impact.

Analyses carried out have in fact assessed that the time needed to cross the administrative centre using ordinary roads is almost double that of using the motorway infrastructure.

The toll exemption – which will apply to all classes of vehicles – will be implemented exclusively for routes that originate and terminate on the “open-system” motorway junctions of Aosta Est and Aosta Ovest Saint-Pierre and vice versa, while it will not apply to routes that originate or terminate at junctions located upstream or downstream of the aforementioned section, nor for longer routes that are artificially divided with exits from and returns to the motorway.

Equally, the exemption does not apply when at least 30 minutes have passed between the exit at the Aosta Gran San Bernardo station and the subsequent return to the motorway at the Aosta Est station (or vice versa) and when more than 1 hour has passed between the entry at the Aosta Est station and the exit at the Aosta Ovest/Saint-Pierre junction (or vice versa).

In the event that, due to force majeure, the Aosta Est and/or Aosta Ovest Saint-Pierre motorway stations are temporarily unusable (accident, forced blockade, natural events, etc.), the Companies reserve the right to determine whether or not to assign the transit(s) in order to obtain the benefit.

To benefit from the discount, vehicles must be equipped with an electronic toll device.
